Faux chocolate Tiramisu is the ultimate shortcut dessert that’s there to save the day when you need something delicious, fast, and super easy! Instead of the usual ladyfingers and mascarpone, this version starts with a box of chocolate cake mix and gets topped with a creamy filling made from Cool Whip and Jello pudding mix. How is it Tiramisu Without Mascarpone?
Okay, I know what you're thinking—Tiramisu without mascarpone? It sounds crazy, right? I get it. Mascarpone is the heart and soul of the classic Tiramisu, and trust me, I love it too. But sometimes, life calls for something quick, easy, and made with what you've already got in your pantry. That's exactly what this version is. No mascarpone, but I promise it tastes just as good—if not better! It’s a fun twist on the classic, and you’ll love how simple and delicious it is!
Yield: (24 servings)
Ingredients:
1 box chocolate cake mix (wtv brand you like)
1 can Nestle table cream
1 Jello pudding mix (vanilla)
4 tbsp Chocolate syrup or to taste
4 cups milk
1 tbsp coffee
8 oz cool whip
1/3 cup cocoa powder
Steps:
Cake Mix: Bake the cake according to the instructions on the box.
Frosting I: In a stand mixer or hand-held mixer, beat the jello pudding with 3 cups of milk; the extra 1 cup will be used later.
Frosting II: Add the cool whip and table cream and beat until well combined. Finally, add in the chocolate syrup. Beat again for about a minute. Refrigerate for 1 - 2 hrs or until its consistency has thickened.
Assembly I: Cut the cake into small pieces. In a large bowl spread half the pieces on the bottom. In a separate cup mix the extra milk with the coffee. Pour half of the coffee over the cake. Make sure it's soaked completely.
Assembly II: Spread a little less than half the frosting on the bottom layer. Repeat the steps for the second layer.
Garnish: Dust the top of the cake generously with cocoa powder. OR you could decorate with shaved chocolate.
